I  ASCE Events and Others of Interest

As February comes to a close, key discussions on Cuba’s economy continue to shape academic and policy debates. This month’s featured publications have explored the impact of U.S. sanctions, the complexities of economic stabilization and reform, and the growing role of dollarized stores in Cuba’s retail sector. Additionally, analyses have examined the effects of Russia’s sanctioned oil shipments to Cuba, the impact of remittance restrictions on the dollar exchange rate, and the economic implications of cryptocurrency adoption. Other critical topics include rising inflation, the transportation crisis, the decline of Cuba’s sugar industry, and the broader challenges facing agricultural productivity and food security.

These timely contributions help us better understand the structural shifts and policy dilemmas facing Cuba today. As we move into March, we encourage our readers to reflect on these discussions and stay engaged in the exchange of ideas that drive a deeper comprehension of Cuba’s evolving economic landscape.

Let’s continue the conversation in the months ahead!
